Vacation Planning

Ok, it's going to take me a while to get used to posting blogs. Let's face it, I'm not the best at emailing or calling people so I'm going to set a goal for myself to post at least one blog per week.

Today I finalized the hotel for our family vacation this summer. We will be staying at the Courtyard Inn by Marriott in Langhorne, PA. Why are we going to Langhorne you ask? Well, it just happens to be the home of Sesame Place! So we will be spending time with Elmo, Big Bird, and Cookie Monster on our vacation. Our daughter Kaitlyn is a big fan, so we are hoping this trip will be enjoyable for her. We will go to the park for 2 days and then spend 2 days exploring the area, it's about 20 minutes from Philadelphia. I've never been to Philadelphia and as I love historical buildings this trip should be right up my alley! Sesame Place is a water park as well as an amusement park so there should be a lot to do there. One morning we are going to have breakfast with Elmo, can't wait!

In the past our typical family vacation has been to Old Orchard Beach in Maine. In fact, that's where my husband and I met. We both love to play video games at the arcade and Old Orchard has some great ones. Last summer when we went up we were disappointed to see the high rise condo's in place of some of the arcades right on the beach. It felt as if it was losing it's family fun atmosphere which was so appealing to us. Of course the beach there is great for walking on, building sand structures in, and the ocean is not too cold so boogie boarding is fun to do! Kaitlyn had a blast last year at the beach!

Hopefully we will make it to Maine for a weekend trip this summer. I love going to the ocean as I grew up on Long Island Sound and enjoy the smell of the salt water. We go to Lake Wyola over the summer quite a bit, but it's just not the same as the ocean. Kaitlyn has continued with her baby swim lessons all winter so it will be interesting to see how she does at the lake this summer.

Ok, I'm ready for this yucky spring weather to be gone and to 70 degree days with sun to be here! Last week we purchased a bike trailer to use this summer and it also converts into a jogger. Kaitlyn calls it "new stro stro". She has 4 strollers now! Although, each one serves it's own unique purpose! We have the cheapo $10 umbrella stroller from Target that's great to use when going to the mall and you don't want to lug a lot of stuff around. She has the Graco stroller which reclines all of the way back, so it's great for an infant, and it has a snack tray so it's great for a toddler. Then there is the single jogger, which is great because it has a rain shield so we can go for walks on cold, windy days. And now we have the double bike trailer/jogger.

Both Barney's parents and my parents gave us money for Easter so we put it to good use with the bike trailer purchase. One of the things we love about it is that it has a roll-over bar, just in case we ever have a biking accident. The trailer is made by Trek and it's called the Trek Deluxe GoBug. We purchased it at Bicycle World in Greenfield, MA. Kaitlyn loves strolling in it and hopefully we will get to trail her in it soon!

Well I should go make my weekend "to do" list. Have a great one!
